List of openings
Here's a manageable list of 35 openings that chess.com thinks you should know at an intermediate level. That's a little above where you are now, but if you have a burning desire to study theory, this is a good place to start.

Of course before you start in on learning theory, maybe you should try these free Chess Mentor lessons and make sure you've got basic opening principles and tactical motifs down first. Well worth studying IMHO.

Okay....
Actually I was looking for a list so I could see which were the most used openings in the Qatar competition.
I've found a limited list of about 250. I've also downloaded all... I think... of the Qatar games. I've set up an excel workbook to see which openings were used the most... which seems to be the Alapin Gambit.
Would you like a copy of the workbook?

Hi,
I'm a member of chess.com albeit a cheap one.... cannot afford a higher "status". :-(
I'm trying to compile a list of openings.
If I look at the book openings here there are 140 "pages".
Is there or can I download or "get" somehow, a list without paging through 140 times and copy and pasting and then have to massage the resultant txt/excel file please?
TIA
Lisa
