London and Caro: The best openings IMO

Sort:
NeoChess9

Hi everyone! Lots of people trash talk the London and Caro, why? Because they are annoying to play against! Just ignore them, I’ve never lost a game in rapid lever the past 7 days using these openings! Seriously!

NeoChess9

These are the best openings in my opinion, solid, and positional

How to play: Caro kann: 1.e4 c6 2. d4 d5…GG for white😂😂😂

London system: Just put your pawns in a pyramid structure, the d4 pawn is the peak

Bishop goes on d3…King knight goes on f3 other knight goes on d2 bishop is on f4…GG for black

I personally think the hyper accelerated London and the jobava are better than the London, but personal choice matters

on my last account i had horrible games when i played against the Londen and caro kann

The Hippo system can easily combat the London, and the Exchange variation of the Caro Kann can deny Black the pyramid-shaped pawn structure typical for that opening.

All openings my opponents play are annoying. Why should the London & Caro be any different?

I enjoy playing against the Crappy-Kan't and causing London Bridge to collapse. They count as a half-won game already when you see them being played. The only thing annoying about them is their advocates, whom, like the Borg and Grob'ers ,ceaselessly chirp away about how great these openings are.

Wow i need to learn them real quick

pcalugaru

BOTH ARE SOLID.

People who talk trash about the London are just mad because it prevents them from playing thier pet defense.

And the Caro-Kann is a main line ... good luck dissing it

This is an excellent description about how the openings are NOT played.

This may produce short term improvements, since you'll be playing in familiar, limited lines. But eventually improvement will level off. You need to learn to play in a variety of positions, not just those from two openings.

The London isn’t good you have to play the jobava for it to be good but the caro is ok

Yet another ~1000 rated player, who thinks that openings play a role (any role) on his performance.

I like the Scotch Game because it's a powerful opening for and takes control of the center. Same reasons for the Queens Gambit. For black I like the London accelerated queens gambit variation ,Italian anti fried liver, and Scandinavian defense, because they restrict your opponents moves and take the center quickly.

What's the Italian Anti Fried Liver?

A stupid terminology, adopted by chess dot com openings database.

First, you take an Italian: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4

The Fried Liver Attack is when White plays Ng5 hoping for a fork on f7. The Anti-Fried Liver means Black plays 3. ...h6 to prevent that.
