5... Bd6 is a bad move by the computer. Black’s light squared bishop gets blocked in. Just play 6 e4, the Knight has to go to b6 (think what happens if it goes to other squares) and you get an easy game.

London opening... lazy player think they have an automatic bulletproof setup. Well, they don't. QG or colle zukertort for a better option. Listen to the Lion.

Hi All,

I would like some comments on where to take this position. I'm trying to learn the London opening system. I get into this position a bunch playing the computer and am not smart enough to get a decisive advantage.

Thank you,

While you have an objectively winning position here, Black never really tries to challenge the center in this setup.  Instead of playing on auto-pilot, realize that if he is not going to claim space, you should.

The key thing you missed (repeatedly) is that the e4-break would win you the game.  I would recommend looking at some Colle games (not the Colle-Zuckertort, but normal Colle) as that is the key idea behind that opening system as well.  The whole objective is to prepare e4 so that you have a strong kingside attack.  Once it is ready (and in this setup, Black made it ready for you!) you do not hesitate!  This is a great example of why improving players should not play system openings.  Playing on auto-pilot and missing tactics!
