Hi, everyone. Is there any set of video-lectures, or any downloadable book (for free), that diggs deep into the theory for these two oppenings? I'd like to study them seriously, but I don't know where to start.

St. George Defence (1. e4  a6)
Owen's Defence (1. e4   b6)

He asked for video-lectures and books, not for opinions on the opening.

Sure it is borderline dubious but people can play whatever they want. Also Larsen was known for playing unorthodox openings and look how he fared! If OP wants to study the Owen, kudos to him!!

Thank you everyone!
Yes, the openings do seem to be a bit odd. But the point is that I have a live oponent, an egyption guy who uses the Baker's defence very often. At the beginning I was winning most of the gemes we played. But then he studied this opening so good, that I started loosing. So, I want to learn it myself, so that he can't surprise me anymore. Does this sound like a good idea? :)

So,thanks to Tasmanian Tiger I now have some materials on Owen's defence. Anything you could recommend on Baker's defence?

And, yes, I am actually greatfull for opinions on the openings, exept for "don't learn it" ones. I just need to learn it for a specific reason, and because I believe, that for a newbe like me, any experience is good.

Become a premium member and watch the series of videos about this opening that GM Simon Williams just produced. And ignore everything the GreedyPawnEater says

There is a big difference between the Owen's defense and the English defense as explained by Williams. One of the very first things he said in that series is not to play ...b6 unless c4 has been played. e4 b6 looks highly suspect.

Sorry, but due to some technical issues going premium is not an option as well as buying books. :( I'm only in for free stuff. And I'm kind of limited in time: after August, 25 I'll be cut of YouTube for 4 or 5 month too...

Why??

There is a St George book, written in 1993 by Michael Basman

I'm a Russian student. I am now in Moskow for a one month vacation. Than I am comming back to China, where YouTube is blocked. So, after a month I will no longer be able to use YouTube.
If I now register everything I need for internet purchase from Amazon, shipping might take about a month. So, by the time the book gets to Mosckow, I'll be gone. Otherwise I need to use DHL shipping, which is way more expansive.
Besides, I'm sort of short in cash now. And I can't afford to waste it on any materials in the internet. At this point premium usership here is just not worth it. Till now I could get all I needed as an amateur for free. Going premium just to learn one unorthodox opening... Seriously? For the money I would rather try to analyze it on my own.

2Gilasaurus: Thanks! I'll try to find it.
