If after 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 white niavely plays 3. c4? what's the best way to punish. Something like c6? exchanging two pawns or going down a pawn but going way ahead?
"... 3 c4 c6 4 dxc6 is generally viewed as not very promising, since it is obvious that 4...Nxc6 5 d3 e5 offers sufficient compensation. [Black] has a lead in development and White has seriously compromised his pawn-formation with holes at d3 and d4. ..." - GM Paul van der Sterren (2009)
