The main point Nimzo Indian is its flexibility, i.e. black refrains from committal moves like ...d5 until white has defined his plan with committal moves like f3 or bxc3. If you want to put a pawn in the center early then just play 1... d5.

Indeed. Weird, why can't you just play both? Every d4 defense has it's merits but the QG is THE standard in every player's repertoire imho. Just some words of advice my friend.✌🏽

The OP is very confused, You never have to play openings don't like, and QG is perfectly good.
I want to play the QGD but I think the nimzo indian is better, but I just don't feel comfortable without putting a pawn in the center and giving up my bishop pair. I really want to play the nimzo indian because of how good it is but just feel disgusted with it. The nimzo indian is also very confusing to me as woth moves like f3 and d5 it feels like whote can just steamroll you.
