this is called french defense advance variation
main line is 4.c3 looks good for black
Move 6...a6?! 6...Qb6 gives advantage, put pressure immediately on f2, it also release Q from possible pin of Bg5. White has to exchange 7.Bxc6 bxc and b-file is open for Q and rook! In this position play b- and c-file.
Move 8...f6. I think that 8...Ne7...Ng6 is more logical plan. It's not good for white to exchange on f6. At the moment black has an extra pawn on center, after exchange (on f6) he occupy the hole center by pawns.
8 f6 seems logical to me. If unapposed, that pawn will just put pressure on you later. There is no flaw in the move; you have just weakened white's positioning by eliminating a bishop without any significant loss on your part. I think this opened worked well for you. You have developed more than white at no material disadvantage.
1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. dxc5?! [This is a dubious move as white concedes the centre and gives black a chance to develop his dark-squared bishop] 4. ... Bxc5 5. Nf3 Nc5 6. Bb5 a6?! [Better was 6. ... Nge7 before ...a6, defending the knight so that if Bxc6 then ...Nxc6 and black has pressure on e5. This can be followed up with ...Qc7. Another alternative is 6. ...Qb6] 7. Bxc6? [White has little chance of an attack now] 7. ...bxc6 8. 0-0 f6!? [Interesting pawn break-through] 9. exf6 Nxf6 10. Bg5 0-0

I was wondering if the collective mind that makes up chess dot com could give me some feedback on an opening- it's intriguing (okay, I admit I made it up, and this is from a blitz game) by move 10 it looks good, but there must be a sideline somewhere where it derails... so tell me what you think!
