Opening move help

Hey,

I have been playing chess with my brother and my typical open is the Kings Pawn. After that I have been experimenting with different moves. I tried the Bishops Opening just because I found it interesting and fun (which is the important thing :))

I actually had a good game when I used it. Had his king in check in a few moves and had him on the run a little bit. I messed it up and lost the game though.

But now, he changed his pattern. I opened with the Kings Pawn and he opened with the Queens pawn. What should the response to this be and why?

Thanks for the help guys!

I take it you mean he plays d5 against your e4: called The Skandnavian Defence (or Center-Counter by old people)

Take the pawn (exd5) and if he countertakes with the Q, play Nc3 and develop

At your level of play, just experiment and plan and try to have fun.
