Caro-Kann is an e4 defense, not d4.
Having said that, Caro-Kann/Slav is a very nice e4/d4 repertoire.
openings for beginners

For a beginner, a good way to learn openings is to play 5 or 10 moves against the computer and start a new game, then after you figured out what a chess computer likes to do you can copy it.
Most computer chess programs come with opening books, so they are fairly accurate in the opening at least and can teach strong and weak players alike a thing or two.
Here's one I bet you havent been asked before.
Im looking for a black opening for e4 and one for d4. The best for each that has lots of resources for study and is playable for players wanting to get good at least at the e4 and d4 opening responses.
I like the french for e4 but havent heard much for d4...maybe the caro-kann??
Your oppinions please.
