Pirc Defense's fifth move

Hey, I was looking into the Pirc and was wondering how one chooses what to play as the fifth move. As far as I'm aware, the two most used options are 5. ... c5 and 5. ... O-O. But I couldn't figure out when to play which, so my question is:
Is there a prerequisite to either or is it just a matter of preference whether I want to contest white's center early or finish my development?

Oh ehm yeah sorry, I was talking mainly about the austrian where 5. ... c5 is an option to attack the center. So basically if there is any method to whether I go with the main line or dragon formation, or if it's just preference

Hi! My preference is 5...0-0 6. Bd3, Nc6 with the idea of 7...e5. It is a somewhat theoretical and sharp line but worth learning.

Good luck!

the austrian attack makes it very difficult for black to do alot

the Nf3 variation is more positional and often black is crunched in space

the 150 attack can often end with quick wins for white and is very dangerous

etc etc

but generally play it in a kings indian / pirc hybrid with these setups
