1. Nf3 c5 is what I'd recommend, which takes the Queen Pawn transpositions out of play. For example, 1. Nf3 c5 2. d4 cxd4 and white needs to burn a tempo on the recapture and black gains a central majority. White can transpose into a Sicilian with 1. Nf3 c5 2. e4, but then you're at least into a Semi-open game with lots of theory. I've had good results with this, even against those who really intend to play a Reti Opening (e.g. 1. Nf3 c5 2. c4).
Playing as black against Nf3, D4 without transposing to Slav defense.

Me? What GM? I didn't see or don't currently recall that post by a GM in this thread with whom I am agreeing.

Is the OP still reading and/or posting in this thread. I think the bottom line is you can't avoid chess. OK maybe you hate either the Slav or the Sicilian for some reason, but you probably should be able to play at least a little of at least one of those two. Both if you are a top player of course.

What about using the French and the QGD?
To be fair, it would only be *an* Indian defence. Indefinite article.
Not necessarily -- not if it's clear what you're talking about. Perhaps this particular case could go either way though.
I'm going to THE grocery store, Honey. (the one we always go to)
I'm pulling THE car around. (our car. you shouldn't steal)
I wish the person in this dumb thread would leave THE website. (not a website)

Even if you could argue you are right in this case, or that there are two correct answers, why split hairs when you are making erroneous statements in other posts in this thread, which I have pointed out? Also, it's spelled "defense" but Wikipedia is sometimes inaccurate.
