I've been studying this opening and IMO i find it to be quite a strong opening and lead to sharp play.

Why is it rare to see this opening?. and

Why hasnt anybody picked it back up and studyed it beyond what Bobby Fischer did?

It seems not to have had a fair chance. :(

Heres the Sicilian variation

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Bg5 e6 7. f4 Qbs after which 8. Qd2 Qxb2 usually follows

And heres IMO the more intresting Poisoned Pawn Latvian Gambit Variation

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Bc4 fxe4 4. Nxe5 Qg5?!

Can anyone answer my question in my first post concerning this opening.

You are asking why nobody has picked up the Najdorf Poisoned Pawn after Fischer?

What about Kasparov, Topalov, etc etc... it's been the main line of the 6.Bg5 Najdorf since the 60s, I think.

6.Bg5 did go out of fashion in favour of 6.Be3 in the eighties, though. It's been making a comeback recently.
