Why are people so obsessed with their opening *traps*??? This is not chess!
Post some openings you have created/opening novelties by you HERE!
Here is my favourite one- The Elephant Fianchetto! (Don't ask me why I named it that way-I don't even know):
I expect you to analyze this a bit further and tell me what you think.

I am not talking about opening traps. I am talking about openings that normal, low to mid level (or even high level, if they want) have created. They are two totally different things.
As I have an obsession with fianchettos, I want to insert them everywhere-including to four knights game! I have no time to provide analysis, I will just provide the very first moves:
I almost forgot!
They don't have to be openings just for white, they can also be for black!
Don't forget to comment on the openings created by others, not just post your own! Commenting and analyzing openings other users have posted is more important than adding a huge bunch of new ones!
When i say opening traps, i mean some players, even up to club level and beyond, memorize long openings to gain some advantages over the uke. But this is not chess. Memorization is pathetic really. I play the kings gambit accepted as black, the queens gambit as white, and also the berlin wall (one of kasparovs favourites) as black, as a defence to the sicilian (1 f4, d5 and ... f5 at a later point with a strong drawing game).

Why ever in the world do you think black would play 4..cxd4?
I think anyone who knows opening principals would NOT play that.

Ιt was a bit strange, but I had no time to actually think it through, sorry, I just made Stockfish play black's moves.

I see.
Hard to argue with a machine.
However, I have heard many times that engines are not very good at openings.

Still, what would you play? The only "normal" move here is probably Nc6 other than cxd4.

Ok, I agree, but what does that have to do with this thread?

That is true, engines are not that good with openings, and I just tested Nc6, which is not bad, it is actually quite good, and with perfect play by both sides, the game is about equal all the time.
I have recently spent a few hours watching some enjoyable 'foxy' chess videos i got from the net. Purely on openings, and these have been great. But i was just challening the idea that openings are the most important thing in chess, or the main crux of the issue. Perhaps my contributions were a touch premature?
This is the quick game that Stockfish generated with Nc6 instead of cxd6:
I have to admit though that Nc6 would also be my choice, and not cxd6.

Well, you are right, I agree with your point, openings are definetely not the most important thing in chess. I agree. That doesn't mean we can't have a little discussion about them, does it?
If you have any opening that you have "created" and thought "Well, that doesn't look that bad, I could trick one or two guys with it and catch them off guard", post it here, so that we can take a look at it, analyze it a bit, play a couple of games with it, and see if it worths!
I will post two "fianchetto-ish" openings first!
