QP Openings

I'm not worried about which opening is the "flavor of the month" with GM's.  At that level, though opening theory may be important, ultimately, it's knowing how to analyze a position, having a plan, a keen tactical eye, and good end-game technique that brings home the point.

1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 g6

1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 g6

1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 d5 3. e3 g6 (the so-called "Sneaky Grunfeld")

Basically, the Zuke is designed to attack black's castled king under the assumption that the bishop will come out to e7 or d6. If black plays g6 and Bg7 instead, then the setup isn't right for that. But there are other lines white can play instead.

i agree that white have good lines against those while playing the zukertort:). 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 g6 and 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 g6 can be met by the barry attack or 150 attack. the sneaky grunfeld is a little trickier but white still have a good game with something like this

playing as black, I also hate playing the exchange varaition. I'm starting to take up the dutch as well. Do you guys know any good websites on the dutch?

Don't know any web sites, but I'll recommend the book "Starting Out: The Dutch Defense" by GM Neil McDonald. I really like his writing, and he covers all the major lines. Once you decide which line you want to focus on (Stonewall, Classical, or Leningrad), then you'll probably want another book on just that line.

Bg7 is not a blunder:)

The best website for opening theory is www.chesspublishing.com but it is not free.  You generally get what you pay for.

I want to learn the Leningrad

In that case, I can't help you. I play the Classical Dutch.

I really don't know any good web sites on the Dutch. I started with the Starting Out book that I already mentioned, then when I decided to go with the Classical variation, I picked up the book "Play the Classical Dutch" by Simon Williams.

It is not a blunder (=game losing move) but it is not best play.  Of course neither side seemed to be interested in best play.  If Black wants a Grunfeld there are better ways to get it.

Elubas

It's not a good move, but it's not a blunder, is what they were saying Anthony.

Why would Black allow White to simply snatch a tempo when he could just take the pawn or play ...c6 when he's ok?? It makes no since.

i mentioned the move because thats the move i face twice as much as the other ones.  and extra much on internet so it seemed like the most relevant move to cover. ..c6 leads to schlechterslav in a line where white is equal and black must be very careful. ...dxc4 almost never happens as it transposes to a favourable variation of the QGA after 5.Bxc4 Bg7 6.0-0 0-0 7.Nc3 with white scoring 61% wins in 500 games. having theoretical advantage is not neccecary at my level. im not even a master:) so im studying endgames and tactics and want as much time as possible for that
