I've just recently started playing the queens gambit for white. Does anyone have any tips for that particular opening?

If you are black, play 2. c6 which is the Slav. I do not consider playing 2.e6 because it blocks your own bishop. And if you are white, if your opponent captures your offered c-pawn, develop your kingside and queenside pieces and push your e-pawn.

There are a few major responses after 1.d4 d5 2.c4

1.Declined. The best response for this is e3

2.Marshall. The best response for this is cxd5

3.Accepted. The best response for this is e4

4.Slav. The best response for this is e4

5.Austrian. This is very uncommon, but the best response in cxd5 IMO.

I think this is all of them. Good luck!

1...d5 will be the least of your worries IMO.  In My Humble Opinion.  Wait till you face the slimy and slippery Dutch Defense and you will be winning positionally with a fly in the ointment:  you are getting checkmated on the kingside!

     Just thinking......
