Ruy Lopez exchange variation. Nimzoindian Defense.
Religious openings
I accept the Smitth-Morra and Blackmar-Diemer gambits religiously because of my firm belief that they can't be sound. In the case of the latter, this leads me into trouble often, but that is because I have never actually looked at its lines. But then I don't have to, because I have faith. I just need to believe harder.
ROFL!!
as white, 1.e4 like 95% of the time. and occasionally 1.Nf3
as black, against,
1.e4----------- sicilian
1.d4----------- grunfeld, benko ,kings indian defences
1.c4------------english symetrical, or the above responses to d4 by transposition.
any other openings i face as black, i just follow solid opening principles.
I don't have any openings I religiously stick to. I try not to play the same opening twice in a row, ever. But with me it usually comes down to Pirc, Ruy Lopez or Italian, in that order.
As black, the sicillian or an Indian.
As white, either the Grand Prix, Queen's Gambit, or King"s Indian Attack.
As White
1 d4 with Queen's Gambit if possible, otherwise a Catalan-hybrid opening, or Bayonet against King's Indian
As Black
Sicilian Dragon on 1 e4 & KIng's Indian Defence on practically everything else
Simple Kings or Queens pawns. I like both simply because of the mobility. That is me though, I have not been playing long.
As white: Reti - since last week when I finally got Eric Schiller's Hypermodern Opening Repertoire for White.
Before then, it was e4 with White.
As Black: Caro-Kann - since I got Eric Schiller's Complete Defense to King Pawn Openings about 10 months ago
Before then, it was e6 as black; and before that, e5.
Queen's Gambit Declined as black against d4, though am hoping to change to the Tarrasch when I get Eric Schiller's Complete Defense to Queen Pawn Openings.
Yes, I do enjoy Eric Schillers Books.
Also played the stonewall with white for a while, Was moderatley successful with it, funnily enough. Now I've realised that it's complete $#!^ so I've moved on to the Reti.
The Bishop Opening is quite religious.
Agreed. And any gambit opening that requires a sacrifice.
i like the scotch budapest gambit, kings indian attack as white, black, kings indian, carokann, scotch four knights, scandanavian defense
thanks tony (antne003)
scholar's mate is supersticious.
I believe one day c4 will be my saviour.
But it's easier to trust on e4
I usually play the Pope's opening which means to get rid of the queens as soon as possible and make the most of my bishops!
I play all my openings religiously. Only on a Sunday and with no moves of note from the Queen. Oh and if the pawns mess up I cut their hands off.
Whats an opening?
