Response to d4

Yes it is time tested and entirely valid. As far as master level I'm not sure if its been refuted or is out of favor but your good for quite some while yet. If you haven't looked into it try c5 for move three but do some light reading first. The Benoni I believe its called I've been having some fun with it and by using Nf6 and e6 on moves 1 and 2 to fake an indian game..

I have experimented with d5, c5, and if their knight ends up on c3 then 3....Bb4 for me
I always try to play the kings indian defence but after 1.e4 Nf6 I often get 2.e3 . Anyway I think the KID is the best against 1.d4

My response to 1.d4 is always Nf6 with KID, Dragon, Acc Dragon, or Pirc type structures.
Quite curious to see how one can play the Dragon against 1.d4...

Queen's Indian, Modern Benoni, Grunfeld, Pirc, KID, Nimzo Indian, Black Knights Tango and many more (; These are just my favorites

1...Nf6, 2...e6 is one of the most solid responses to 1.d4 2.c4 and is used at all levels. You can play the Nimzo or QID, 2 great defenses against d4 systems, plus you can transpose to QGD or Catalan if white plays 3.Nf3 or 3.g3 with 3...d5. Like others stated you can also play Benoni too.

Basically the Dragon, with a Maroczy bind.
If this is the Dragon, then I'm the new Pope.
I like to play Nf6 followed by e6, or often I play e6 right off the bat against d4. I am a french player and can often get positions I like from Nf6 then e6, and/or e6 in response to d4. I have had good success with it, but is this solid to play, expecially against those that are higher rated?
