IMO, too easy to neutralize, you only get two tempo.

One. You can't count 1. ... e5 as a tempo, because that Pawn is no longer there.

Funny effect of how game explorer works now: after 1.Nf3, 1...e5 has been played 10 times. Then, 2.e4 has been played 277,000 times...

It's just a bad gambit

NewHorizonsSyndrome

I like it as it gives an early lead in development, and for my rating at least, people usually dont accept the gambit in fear of it being a trap. I actually came up with the idea and then thought i was the first one to make up the gambit. I still remember winning the next like, 6 games using it

Look at this game, he stood no chance. The ross gambait is filled with holes

Game could continue with

2...Nc6 3. NxN dxN where Black has open development for a short time, but is a pawn down and has no pawns in the center. White will likely catch up shortly and Black will be left playing without a pawn.

Big deal----opponent probably was thrown off by an unfamiliar opening...probably a Blitz/Bullet game, too...

hi

CheastIsChess

my opponet actally tried this on me, and its kinda bad. Sure, you can get your queen out, but you can do the same if you do the queens gambit, but thats my oppinon. (i may or may not have lost the game when he did that lol)

Maybe Black will be able to transpose into the Stafford Gambit, but that is probably the best he can hope for.

When I play the Kings Indian Attack and start with Nf3 and black plays E4 I take it because it is a free pawn. Chess.com calls it the Ross gambit but in the review it rates blacks's move as an inaccuracy.
