Russian System Grünfeld study tips

I am a d4 player that need to develop my repetoire and I have had some problems playing against the grünfeld. I know the exchange main lne but it doesn't give me anything. Therefore I've started to look for good systems against the grünfeld and the russian system with Qb3 showed up to be a good candidate. However, information about this system is not too easy to find. Because of that I ask you if there are any good websites with surveys on this system or free information, i don't want to pay any money. Thanks on forehand!

I think the Russian is a good choice. I play the Grunfeld as black and it's rare to meet it. I would recommend you download a free database app and then download Caruana, svidler and MVL games. All three play the grunfeld very regularly and so when top players play them they go into it with some serious prep.

I don't know if it's allowed to directly post links on this website ...

Search on modern chess website, there is a sample of a repertoire in the russian system (the key game Grischuk-Nepomniachtchi which puts black in danger in the hungarian).

I have chessbase

Russian Team Championship (2016)  ·  Sicilian Defense: Najdorf Variation. Adams Attack (B90)  ·  1-0

Hm, strange, I've only found this game.

There's an old book of Karpov's called "Beating the Gruenfeld" -- it covers the Russian variation, amongst others

Hello,

I just saw that you discuss my article here. It is always nice to see something like this.

By the way, the system is really good! After writing the database I won 3-4 games with White against strong players. If you need some tips feel free to contact me. Here is the link to the database http://www.modern-chess.com/en/chess-databases/database=3

hogwash: Black has other alternatives on move 16 rather than ...Nce4, including ...Qd6 and ...a5 -- I'm playing the latter on FICGS and it's pretty darn close to completely equal
