I don't get it. After 6. Nc4 d5, doesn't white have 7. e5 ? What is the response to that?

LAexpress12

white simply lets the knight escape, and both of whites pieces are still under attack.

'Simply lets the knight escape' ? Where to? Note Nd6+ is now possible, with Ba4 to follow, and both pieces escape!

n-c4, n-g7

with a pawn fork looming if b-a5

Ah, I see, so 6... Ng6 is the correct line, not the d5 line provided. That makes sense. Thank you Erikido! Smile

FullmetalAlchemist, I assure you I am not incorrect, it is you who have made the fault.

Please, provide a line after 6. Nc4 d5 7. e5 where black is up the two pawns you claim and I will happily refute it for you.

I am sure you have just had a lapse of memory and meant to use the line 6... Ng6.

 Glad I could help.
