Here is  the Scandinavian defense and I play 2...b5 instead of Qxd5

1.e4 d5

2.exd5 b5

3.Bxb5+ Nd7

4.Bc6 Rb8

5.Nf3 Rb4

The purpose is to bring the rook out early but I don't know if it's such a good idea.

I must say that I don't think that saccing 2 pawns to develop a rook can be good.

it is an interesting idea! however i do not think that it will work for various reasons

For example, rooks shouldnt be brought out early in the game; they are very powerful and u could end up spending a lot of time defending against attacks against the rooks unnecessarily. its normally best to leave them until there are less pieces on teh board

I agree with ravster - the rook is powerful, but terribly limited while the board is still closed up. Rooks are at their best with open files and when they are connected with each other and coordinated with other pieces. Chances are you'll lose initiative when your rook gets chased around and your opponent will have knights and bishops out and have claimed more territory with his pawns. As they say in boxing "don't lead with your nose". It would probably be better to lose a pawn in an exchange and then grab the file with your rook. I think it's great though that you're experimenting with ideas - it's a great way to learn for yourself why certain ideas may or may not work.

For example... (just a couple of possibilities)
