I would like to share this opening my mentor taught me. And I hope you would share some of you're chess openings too. Thank you Smile

My mentor once told me,"to win a game you must have a good foundation in the start game and must control the magic square." But this isn't an assurance that you will win. This is only 80% of winning, the other 20% will depend on the player.

Could you perhaps clarify - what exactly is the magic square?

Les_Cloches

Thanks for asking Smile

Magic Square are the 4 squares located at the centre of the board. Well originally or what other people believe that they are 4 squares, you can control them by just using your 2 knights. But then my friend told that you need to support them by using your bishops. The positions of the pawns are also important.

Try this opening. Really fun, and often a surprise to you opponent.

Its called Polish opening or Orangutang opening.

You do realize that 7. dxe5 wins a piece... among other moves that win pieces.

But that aside, your final position looks Ruy-Lopezish. The bishops are aimed toward the enemy kingside, and the knight are ready to jump toward the center.

Simendo, could you take that any further?
