Dear Chess Friends,

I started uploading my opening repertoire to my Patreon channel. If you want a strong repertoire for yourself, I highly recommend you to watch my videos in which I talk about opening lines and I explain middlegame strategies, too. I checked my lines with Stockfish, so they are completely reliable.

In this video, I'm still talking about the Taimanov Variation with 5.c4 in the Sicilian Defense (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nc6 5.c4). Here is the link to that: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sicilian-defense-125763840?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

I hope you'll find it useful. If you like it and you want to see my private educational videos, you can subscribe to my Patreon channel. I upload 4-6 hours of videos / month and you can learn about openings, strategies, tactics and endgames, too. I also upload daily puzzles in 4 levels every day.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to write to me.

Kind regards,

Gabor

5.c4?? Is no good. Anyone that has ever played the Taimanov knows this.

Black is winning after 5...Nf6 6.Nc3 Bb4! And White is positionally busted!

The Maroczy Bind works far better against the Accelerated Dragon. If you are going to try to play a Maroczy Bind against the Taimanov, you must play 5.Nb5 first, forcing Black to play 5...d6, and at that point, White has 2 options. The Bishop Probe line with 6.Bf4, enticing ...e5 and weakening the d5-square for Black, or else 6.c4, only now, leading to a not-as-good variation of the Maroczy Bind compared to the Accelerated Dragon. At this point, Black will not be able to play ...Bb4 because of his own pawn on d6.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple. happy.png It's not the best, it's true but I wouldn't say Black is winning, it's just easier to equalize. You can see that a lot of strong grandmaster had games for that:
