Sicilian players HATE the French

Okay... So the title may not be correct. But my problem is that people always end up transposing into the French when I play against the c3 sicilian.

I'm just curious as to what you guys do in that position or if you play something different against the Alapin to avoid this. Thanks

Ok so, he is threatening immediately to start a pawn chain so play 4..c4 to prevent 5.d4, if 5.d4 then en-passant by 5..cxd4. Then just develop normally. That is a poor move. So against good players you won't find much of that happening.

e5 is bad, black can play bf5 and get the bishop out of the pawn chain before playing e6, which is much better than the french.

I see. Thanks guys. I will no longer be annoyed by this move.

I would suggest Nc6, e5 is not a very good move.

Bf5 might be best, but I would think about waiting until white plays Nf3, the bishop might be better posted on g4. Swapping off the f3 knight would make d4 even weaker than normal.

This sort of structure also arises out of the grand-prix attack a lot of club level.

Indeed, I have faced this as black many times, and with good results. After 3...Nc6 black is probably already better. Basically if white plays e5 early on in the c3 sicilian or grand prix, before it gets shut in by ...e6, than it is a sign that he doesn't understand the french at all, because in the advance french black's only real problem is his light squared bishop.
