Sicilian
After 1.e4 c5, white's "theoretically best" continuation is 2.Nf3, usually followed by 3.d4. For example:
As alternatives for white's second move, he could try 2.f4 (Grand Prix Attack) or 2.c3 or 2.Nc3. White should try and learn something about the sicillian if he's going to play 1.e4. Going for a "scholar's mate" type of attack is almost certainly bad for white.
