Hi guys.May i asked that how is 2..c6 better than 2..e6 for black after 1.d4 d5 2.c4...I am asking this as i have noticed that more and more grandmasters have chosen to play 2..c6 rather than 2..e6.Thanks in advanceSmile

It's not better, it's not worse, it's just different. Flavour of the month :)

I personally play the Slav (2. ... c6) rather than the Queen's Gambit Declined (2. ... e6) because it doesn't block my white bishop and thus keeps more options open.

But ..c6 blocks your dark squared bishop..

Slav 2...c6 not "better" than the QGD 2...e6, its just more fashionable atm.

And the Slav has disadvantages too, like not being able to play c5 in 1 move.
