1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 Nc6 4. Nxc6 dxc6 5. f3!
That's what I'm saying but these stafford people don't listen to the simplest of refutations
at least in the englund gambit, white has to remember some moves.

Yet another refutation out of many.
8.Rf1 is a nice practical solution (objectively there is absolutely nothing wrong with castling, but it's quite logical not putting the king at a potentially vulnerable position in a fast time control game) and after that Black is only playing for cheap tricks.
This is an absolutely bad gambit.. I won't play it for black even if you paid me.
I found three ways to deal with it as white . One is a "natural way" Wich leads to a consolidate first approach. Giving black something to work with though..
Secondly f3 kills the gambit I even heard Eric Rosen once say this is one of the best ways white can play.
The last one is slightly counter intuitive..
e5!
Or if you want to give black a taste of his own medicine I recommend 3Nc3. Your opponent may intend to play the normal Petrov but if you know it's a Stafford this does avoid it even though in that case I would've played into it. And after Nc6 . You play d4 exd4
Nd5
The Belgrade gambit. Now that's a proper gambit
The move f3 simply refutes the Stafford gambit and there are no good replies for black, in this study we see how each of black's replies is easily refuted.
I see you included the lines which look great and might have refuted the Gambit. Great Point!

I never heard of the Belgrade gambit.. Going to look into it. The Stafford has a lot of tricks, over 40! it's great for fast chess games and low ELO players.
I won't argue that. I did have fun with it though.
Do you really have fun as Black with something like that?
And just notioce that white has not bothered keeping the pawn, but played the most natural/intuitive moves instead...
If you do, then you are a very brave man...
I'm sure that I never encountered that exact line, but it would not be fun if everyone played it. I was playing it back in the 1990's, it wasn't as easy to get much info about it. Many people had never even seen it. Now, thanks to the internet, everyone seems to have seen it and have some idea as to how to approach it. I doubt I would have as much fun with it today as I did back then.
