I understand, completely, I used to not like to have an open king position, but now I simply don't care and think as long as there is a benifit to opening the position to the king do it. hence why I play the Dutch, KG and various other lines that include early f pawn thrusts
The Dragon!

@the potato:
Yeah except those lines aren't like a draw by perpetual or 3 fold. THose are just objectively drawn endgames, but still playable by anyone that's not an elite GM. I find that in most of these cases, white maintains some edge.

@ SoFluffy,
There are many lines that lead to draws by perpetual in the Dragon,
@tiger,
That's true, since usually the first side that gets to king wins, but there are many draws by perpetual.
ok

Here's one example.
It is a side line from the 13. Bh6 line from the Yugoslav Attack,
It's not technically a Yugoslav attack if they don't play 7.f3
This is why I like the Dragon, everyone says "The Yugoslav attack is too strong" half the time when my opponents try it they omit f3 and allow the night jump to g4. Thus they don't even know theory past move 7, let alone when we get into one of the main lines, for instance 9.0-0-0 when almost always my opponents accept the d5 pawn sacrifice.
It is quite hilarious how people think they can just set up the bishop queen battery on d2/e3 and then start mindlessly flinging their kingside pawns down the board and win the game. We should probably be grateful to the people who made Fischer's quote famous as it has given a wrong impression to many.

In games where white plays Qd2 on move 7 before f3 then black wins 46.9% of the time, compared with black only winning 29.1% of the time when white plays 7.f3.

It's because of the 7...Ng4 move, when white has no good square to put his bishop. f4 is met with a fork, and g5 is met by h6, the bishop is now misplaced to h4 and black continues Nc6. If the knight is allowed to exchange itself for the bishop, then of course our dragon bishop will be unopposed and it will be hard for white to get a legitimate attack going.
I like the dragon, just think I might switch to the Najdorf or to the Sveshnikov, but the Dragon is a solid opening.
