Even his son wouldn't do that Jesus christ...

The Emory Tate variation is dated so i prefer the Andrew Tate variation

I have been playing Alekhines defence for 5 years now, and its the most reliable and well scoring defence I have tried.

One of my first teachers in the Alekhine taught me a principle which I still try to follow. The principle goes like this: "If white ever plays a4 and it does not look horrible or punishable, play a5". Although I have given my opening advantage as black away many times by following this principle, the principle has always given me the option of a safe passage to the middlegame if I wish to follow it.

I like this. It's one of the few engine-verified ways to bring a rook out in the opening. It's even possible with the king's rook in some lines of the modern and Caro.
