How did black get so far behind in tempi? It appears that White has made 6 moves while Black has made only 4, and it is already White's turn to move again! Play would have gone. 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf 3. Nf3 d6 4. Bc4 Nd2 5. d3 ... 6. 0-0 ..., so what was Black doing during the two extra moves for White?
