The Petroff Defence

Hi Everybody! New to Chess.com! I'm 13 and have been playing since I was 12, But Anyway...

I hate playing against the Petroff Defence, (although I don't play against it much)  it's very stodgy and often my pieces, especially my bishops end up blocked in, and I find the play becoming dull and boring, which is not particularly my style of play. I have come up with an idea and wanted to know if it is fiesable to play as white:

Thanks!

I think your developement is quite slow that way. Look at your pieces, all of them undeveloped, and you're not yet castled, while Black has a solid position. I don't think this gives white an advantage.

When I played 1.e4 I used to fight the Petroff with Nc3, provoking Black to exchange, and giving White a very sharp attack. Even though the pawns are doubled, this is not a big issue since they are pretty mobile, and can attack the center quite easily.

I think this makes it too easy for Black to play d5:

1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bd3 d5   or 3. ...Nc6 and d5 on the next move. The Black is already at least equal.

If you don't want to play the main line with 3. Nxe5 (yeah it tends to be a bit dull), the alternatives are d4, Nc3 or Bc4 (Bc4 can lead to some gambits).

OK, Thanks! Yeah, the development is a bit slow, and d5 looks good for black. I might have a look at 3.d4.
