Hi, I would like to share with you an interesting opening idea in the Torre attack called 'Gossip variation'.

What do you think about the move Ne4? Is it sound or do you know any games with it?

Yes, Ne4 is considered to be Black's best move by far there. Taking advantage of the position of White's Bishop to gain tempo. Also Bf4 is much better than Bh4 in response. I'll say more on that later..

listen to nuclearturkey, all informed with his 1200 chess.com rating.

Having said that a BCF grade of 145 is reasonably solid.

Ok, Bh4 was the old mainline, and can cause Black lots of problems by maintaining the awkward pin if he just plays "normally" by fianchettoing his Bishop on f8 etc. But it proves to be quite ineffective on h4 if White plays correctly and decides to swing his Queen out to the Q-Side after c5 and Qb6. Therefore that's the reason why the Bishop is much better placed on f4 where it can take part in the play and carry a threat of possible tactics on b8. After 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bg5 Ne4 4.Bf4 c5 5.e3 Qb6 Now the mainline 6.Qc1 is too passive for most although OK. A new revitalized alternative is 6.Nc3!? where the predictable response Nxc3?! is quite questionable because after 7.bxc3 Qa5 (necessary or else White can take the b-file with tempo by Rb1) the extraordinary new discovery by GM Alan Norris 8.Kd2!? can give White great attacking chances. Believe it or not his king is believed here to be quite safe in the centre, while it's not clear where Black's King will be safe, it also makes sense for White to keep his Queen for attacking purposes instead of tied to defending a pawn, although his position would have still been fine had he have chose to do so. Therefore after 6.Nc3!? Black's best move is Qa4 7.Bxb8 Nxc3 (7.Rxb8? Bb5+) 8.Qd2 Rxb8 9.bxc3 Bf5 10.Bd3 Bxd3 (10.Bg7? is positional suicide in these type of positions after 11.Bxg7 hxg7 the open h-file will only benefit White, Black doesn't have room for such aggression in Queen's Pawn games) 11.cxd3 and according to GM Aaron Summerscale "A roughly equal position, White's superior central control compensates him having the less active minor piece"..

Technically I don't think this is a Torre Attack game, I believe it is a Trompowsky.  With the Torre Attack Black plays 2...e6 so 3...Ne4 would not be possible. BUT...

I believe 2...Ne4 is considered the "best" move by theory.

Nope, the Trompowsky occurs after 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5. This is the Torre Attack, which can be played against many other Black responses as well including 2.e6..
