I recommend the Cambridge Springs variation of the QGD.

Black's queen will usually go to a5, the king bishop usually goes to b4, and black usually strives to play e5 and free the queen bishop.

The Noteboom is a variation of the Semi-Slav, not the Slav, and it's really just a sideline. It also doesn't solve the problem of the LSB, which actually wasn't a problem anyway... So it cretaes a LSB problem?

Look into the triangle system if you want games where at club level you are often basically a pawn up as black right out of the opening.
