If your opening gets ruined by unexpected moves, then play the rest of the game, and after it learn those moves so that it doesn't confuse you again.
In this case, my opponent was not well prepared for the Polerio Defense of the Knight Attack. Knight Attack 750's used to fall for, but it got so popular at the 700 level that it does not always work.
