What is the best opening?
As I say this, I am still finding openings that suit me and every week or so I end up finding a new opening I like. But one opening has been with me for some time and that's the Pirc Defense. It is a tricky opening for black and it is easy to learn. Not many lines and has great structure. You give up the center in the opening (1. e4, d6 2. d4, Nf6 3. Nc3, g6) but in like 90% of the lines you dominate the center as you enter the middle game. Right now, for white I use the Ponziani, but I can't really give an opinion on it I have only played 2 games with it and I am still learning it. But if you want my opinion for black, PIRC ALL THE WAY!!!!

If you want I can help you with finding an opening that suits you, just quote this post and tell me what kind of playing style you have, as most openings suit you based off that.
what is the portuguese?? literally never heard of it. I'm curious.
The "best opening" doesn't exist. You need to choose one which fits to your level and your playing style (attacking, positional, etc). Yes, in my opinion Pirc is good, I use it most of the time too... but it doesn't mean it's the only one which works. For the Scandinavian, the matter is the hanging queen, but if you can deal with it, then just continue to use it.
Also, @Im-too-small, here is the Portuguese opening : https://www.chess.com/openings/Portuguese-Opening
The one where you know the whole opening including the middlegame plans, and your opponents is clueless.
If you are instead asking for the most beautiful opening, thats the italian, I forgot how its called in english:
If you are asking what openings I play, thats 1. d4 (typically followed by Queen's Gambit) and 1. e4 c6.
@blueemu i think best opening is that opening what you know best to play so it exist @sanglier-de-com... too
