Bhai kuch aur khel le caro kann ya fir french. You don't have a rating so I don't know ur strength but nobody can refute the D5 line so don't worry u can play it
What is the difference between 2...d5 and 2...Nf6 against the Alapin Sicilian?

Actually bhai d5 line mera main weapon hain against the Alapin. Recently ek match thoda transpose hogaya tha to Advance French when my opponent played 3.e5 instead of 3. exd5 and I am not a fan of the positions which arise from the French. However I will try to learn the common continuations in various d5 sidelines so that I am a bit comfortable in that position
Btw, My rating could be like around 950 to 1050 elo by chess.com standards (since my Lichess rating fluctuates between 1250 and 1350).

I think I could it as a drawing weapon later on or maybe just adopt it as my main response when I improve my positional play.

Agar tumhare friends e5 khelte hai, to d4 tum khud khel do. Ye ek badiya line hai. Engine se check kar lena

Just checked and saw that d4 is a playable move which gives a near about equal position(+0.2 for white). Additionally in the Lichess database, Black wins about 46-50% matches in the d4 line. Thanks bhai.

Which would you prefer, an improved Scandinavian Defense or an Improved Alekhine’s Defense. That’s essentially what you’re choosing when playing the d5 Alapin or Nf6 Alapin.

I might be wrong but if we look in that regard then-
2..d5: As you said will pave the way to an improved Scandinavian (since Nc3 is not available for white) with 3..Qxd5 i.e. Barmen Defense. However an equally fascinating line could be 3..Nf6 (nearly identical to the modern Scandinavian variation). This line ,as shown below, might be risky and aggressive but I guess below a certain level black is not going to be punished for this sort of aggressiveness. Of course one could always stick to the Barmen Defense and discard this line.
2..Nf6: An improved Alekhine Defense for black since white can of course try to replicate the Two Pawns attack( However this would mean a loss of tempo since the c pawn is already placed at c3) but white can never enter the Chase/Lasker Variation of the Alekhine because of black's c pawn.
So I guess it all boils down to black's style of play. Since I am not yet experienced in positional play and don't really like passive positions with Black, I will stick to 2..d5. Thanks for your help.
I have primarily adopted 2...d5 as my response to the Alapin Sicilian. However, I mostly face the Alapin in OTB matches with my friends and thus I fear that I have become much more predictable which in turn means that my opponents would come much prepared against me in case of the 2..d5 line. I was considering to switch to the 2...Nf6 line to surprise them but I wanted to know more about it general characteristics like is the 2..Nf6 variation a really solid, positional line and is it a mainly drawish variation or does it allows some winning chances as well?
Thanks in advance. Have a good day.
Note- I have absolutely zero chances of getting an Open Sicilian game with my OTB mates since they stumbled across a video named "CRUSH the Sicilian Defense: The Alapin" by a famous chess content creator and they treat his word as some sort of an universal truth. So in a way I am literally forced to study the Alapin in great detail. (I apologize if this sounds like a rant).
