I am not sure what my quickest "mate" is, but I have had opponents hang material in under 10 moves.
However, I did witness the following game in the late 1990's - Yes, this really happened over the board - I wish I was making this up given White's rating - Ratings are approximate and not exact as this was over 25 years ago and I don't recall exact numbers:
Caught a 1700 in the Englund Gambit trap!
