Queen's Gambit, but for some reason my opponents almost always accept. Come on, make it fun and decline the Queen's Gambit!

Why not try this?

the GEDULT blackmar diemer gambit, but I only play it by the scandinavian move order

3.Nc3 scores better with MOST players, but for some reason, I do poorly in most openings that play knight to c before f. 3.f3 works much better for me

4. ...h6, looks like they took a note out of Ding Liren's book 😅

Of the other. I would say the worst at first glance are Qe7 (blocking the DSB), Nc6 (blocking the c pawn) and Bd7 (blocking the knight's square on d7). Qe7 is probably the ugliest as it shows no understanding of the development.

The other 2 take some understanding of this position as this pattern of development

is horribly ugly and totally misunderstanding queen's pawn positions.

b6 looks logical but I know there is supposed to be some idea with cxd5 and then Ne5 in some moment and this is supposed to be better for white. This is like the Pillsbury Attack which is why black is supposed to play h6 before b6 (the Tartakower). To be honest I don't understand so well why this is considered so much better for white though. I guess it's just uncomfortable for black to play.

Bd6 doesn't make any sense I suppose as it's blunted by the g3 pawn and e4 comes with the threat of e5. The engine actually just wants to play Be7 from d6, admitting that it shouldn't be there.

My favorite is when lower rated players play the French Defense and don't even realize they did it, and don't normally play the French when faced with 1.e4, but yet here, they arrive there out of transposition through the Veresov, which IS a 1.d4 opening, before you start spewing that it's not 1.d4 - it is! The fact that it directly transposed to a king pawn opening does not change the fact that White opened 1.d4. Black would not get "tricked into it" via 1.e4.

1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bg5 and now they give the look like they have no idea what to do (1700 players over the board that is) and decide they don't want doubled pawns, but instead of going Nbd7, they play 3...e6, and now after 4.e4!, a player that normally plays the Dragon or 1...e5 sees themselves stuck in a Classical French with no idea what to do, and I've actually gotten both of the following before that you'd never get from an experienced French player after 1.e4 e6:

4...Be7 5.e5 Nfd7 6.Bxe7 Qxe7 7.f4 c5?? 8.Nb5 with a huge advantage

4...Be7 5.e5 Nfd7 6.Bxe7 Qxe7 7.f4 O-O 8.Nf3 c5 9.Bd3 cxd4?? 10.Bxh7+ winning.

Long live the Veresov! And love facing the 3...e6 variation, even if he or she is a French player!

When you play the French as Black, do you play the Winawer or do you play for Steinitz/Burn/MacCutcheon/Mainline variations?

The problem is actually getting your opponent to play it. I've only played Tarrasch Defense once, and it was against a bot.

Kings Indian

gik-tally

The Blackmar Diemer gambit, but by the Scandinavian 1.e4 d5 2.d4!? move order, but even then it's a pain because my fellow Scandinavians can be very cagey against it despite NEVER seeing it from 1.e4. If some gambits, the generally 2.Nf3 Tennison.

I Got to "King's Gambit" this Scanivian today after losing a stonewall straightjacket game. After 2. dxe4 I said:

"Now we play an open game"

Another reason this game was so satisfying is because my fellow Scandinavians are cagey players, even if they NEVER see 2.d4!? over the board. I had to quit playing the 3.Nc3 BDG proper because they were better at it than I, but for some reason, I'm thinking maybe I'm just bad with my queen's knight, I have much better results going straight to f3 and play the Gedult. I bet being a King's gambiteer plays a part

Golly do I ever love Nf3 and Bc4 with a semi open f file! carokanns are CLUELESS against the mieses
