Of all the commonly played openings, my least favorite is the Giuoco Piano, but there are some even worse ones that I don't see very often, like the Bird Opening, and the line 1. h4 or a4.

Never tell anyone about your least favorite opening, or they will use it against you to get a psychological advantage.

Playing against the Sicilian hasn't been very good for me, especially if I go for d4. Usually I just go for some equal-ish position by playing a modest d3 and fianchetto the queen's bishop. Perhaps even advancing the queenside pawns. But no way in hell am I opening up with d4 in the Sicilian.

The French. I hate the French with unrelenting passion.

In my opinion it doesn't make sense to have any openings in your repertoire that you hate. For instance, if you hate the French, why not play 1.d4, 1.Nf3 or 1.c4? Or for the person who hates 1.d4 - if there isn't anything you can play against 1.d4 that leads to positions you like, then why not just simply give up chess, given that there's no way of stopping your opponent playing it? Chess is such a rich game, and there is something interesting to be found in every position, so my opinion on this is that if something is guaranteed to be in your repertoire then you should find a way to enjoy it, otherwise it brings in to question the entire repertoire (like in the example I gave - if the French is unacceptable, it logically follows that 1.e4 is unacceptable - otherwise you should find positions you do like in the French). Here's an example of an opening that is commonly hated:

Given that the London System isn't possible to avoid if you play 1...d5, there are 2 logical options - either play something that discourages the London System (i.e. 1...d6 or 1...g6) or find a way to enjoy the positions resulting from the London System; and that is certainly possible to do, despite the complaining. This is different to something like the French, or the Ruy Lopez and King's Indian as in another post, which can totally be avoided.
