What opening do YOU play? Im curious what the majority of people choose regarding this topic.

1.e4 mostly. Currently 1..e5 as back to get better, I used to do 1..c5 and sometimes 1..d5 all against 1.e4. As black I do 1..d5 1..e6 1..f5 against 1.d4 mostly I wait to see if I am playing a system player. If I see the London or Colle I pair up the c and d pawns then do a queen side attack. Sometimes I end up in a French from 1.d4 and that suits me fine as black, due to having spent years in Sicilian positions. So more variety from this month than previous years. I sometimes play 1.d4 as I want to learn QP positions. Not as much right now as I am trying to improve my rating after an all night blitz tilt the other week.

I like playing the King's Gambit or Queen's Gambit as white. As black it depends on what my opponent does.

Italian and Sicilian

This topic is a constant on this forum;same topic packaged differently.
I mean, yeah, this category of forums is about openings, so it makes sense to ask, right?
And its just for my context, so that I can improve my play by analyzing what others play.

The thread ,though, isn't really about openings as much as its about what people play; like what opening is played the most, what do players prefer,or some such variation. There are a large number of similar threads which are little more than a poll on what people play. The thread is not unlike asking people what color shirt they prefer.

Trompowsky/Levitsky as White
Petroff/Deferred Dutch (1...e6, allowing the French over the Gambits or 2.Bg5) as Black

As white I used to play the Ponziani, but recently I switched back to the Italian game. In many games I win an early pawn like so:
As black against e4 I always do the Caro-Kann due to its (usually) consistent patterns. Against d4, I meet with d5 and...honestly I'm not too "trained" against 1.d4, so I don't really have a repertoire against it yet; I might learn the Modern Defense for that one.
