I would not play the scandinavian, or Caro Kan, you should choose between the sicillian or 1...e5

french or caro kann. depends. if i feel confident , then french, if not, caro kann. but this just started. i used to be really stupid and played the sicilian dragon and najdorf all the time but times change :D

I play Scandinavian. If played well, black can easily get to an even middle game. Also, there aren't too many variations, so you can concentrate your study time on tactics rather than spending days learning Sicillian or all the different openings after 1. e4 e5

If you want advice on Scandinavian, send me a message (I don't like the main line, so I use my own variation and you may have trouble finding it in books).

Sicilian = Sharpest and most theoretical

Caro-Kann = Most solid

Scandinavian = Least theoretical, Qxd5 lines tend to be more solid, 2...Nf6 lines tend to be sharper with potential gambit play.

I play the sicilian because I enjoy studying opening theory and right now I have the time.
