No, the Anderssen's 1. a3 is ok, good to play reversed openings. In 1 ply, the worst openings are 1. f3 and 1. Nh3.
Worst Openings?

It really depends on context.
I don't think you can say any openings is truly the 'worst' without doing so. Chess is really not that simple.
Take for instant 1.Na3
As soon as a thread appears on chess.com covering 1.Na3, you soon get the flies buzzing around with comments like "It does nothing" or "Totally bad, it loses a valuable tempo" or on and on ad infinitum.
Then I chime in with 'Yes, yes 1.Na3 is all of those but here look at all of the games I have won"
To wit the repuke is "They are only bullet/blitz games, show us a proper game to prove your point"
This is what I mean by context. Unless an opening loses by share force, no opening is really worse than any other given the right conditions and who you are playing it against......After all, any refutation of an opening is only as good as the person who knows it (or at worse as the skill to work it out)
The fools mate. Worst opening. Period.
I hate people who go on to these forums talking about why the worst move is the worst and which move they think is the worst, and some guy like you just says fools mate. It doesn't help
I am not sure, but I think that jdh1 was just reacting to my post about 1 g4 e5 2 f4. If so, I guess it should be me who is blamed for an unhelpful attempt at humor.
What would the worst opening in chess be?
Ex: a3
Thanks!
