Fair enough we let Mr. Blocker stay in Cleveland. I am sure he is doing fine there. But he does miss out on a fine opportunity to try something very different and exciting. All the best to you and your coach.
Coaching in Denmark for 3 months!
As I mentioned in the first post I am not really sure this is the right place, but then I am very open for alternative ideas?
I get your point, and I tend to agree with you, except that this little guy just might be the new Karpov, or maybe even better just himself. He is danish champion and beats anyone that dares play against him. He is playing in U14 in the league and is doing very well in tournaments (national and internationally) including tournaments for so called grown ups.
Yes, as mentioned before he already has a strong team behind him: 2 players above 1900 and an IM, this post was not a desperate cry for help, but more an invitation for cultural exchange and creating a win/win situation.
.... and related to the last post: why have butter and bacon when you could have a danish....(pastry)..
He is official Danish National Champion U8. His rating in here is around 1300 going steadily upwards. He is mainly playing turnbased online chess on Chess.com.
Thx. for all the positive comments.
Hi all
I am writing on behalf of my 7 year old son having this profile. He playes Chess, violin and piano and enjoy it very much. He is bilingual: Danish, russian and working hard on english.
Is there a GM or IM out there that would like to come to Denmark for up to 3 month and combine holiday with teaching. We will ofcourse provide room, food and transportation (also to local tournaments).
Perfect scenario would be native russian speaking chess enthusiast with music skills that would like to know Denmark and play in major danish tournaments if you feel like it.
I have not seen any similar posts and I am not sure this is the right place, but any feedback is welcome.
I should add that he already has a very professional teaching team including an IM.
I'm suprised with all the money available that your not more selective.
wouldn't it make sense to find a group of qualified chess coaches and invite them? I don't know why you think that the chess.com forums are where very strong chess masters hang out. lurk a little.
just about everyone here is a patzer, and very few are titled.
a few carefully worded and selective personal messages would go SOOO much further than forum post.
In Italy a friend of my use to do a summer camp in july in Liguria (sea) with all young guys like yours (from 6 to 16 years old). Actually 2 of this guy are Italian National champions, but there's many others. If you never will be interested I suggest the week with the national trainer.
This forum is meant to be targetted towards coaches and organizers, so therefore I thought it was a good place to start. We will keep your suggestion regarding personal messages in mind.
As for summercamps we also have a number of them here in Scandinavia and they are quite fun and certainly also will be on the agenda in the future, both in Denmark and in other countries.
But we are sort of getting away from the topic. We are not desperately looking for coaching but looking for new and interesting ways to learn while enjoying life. That is also why the mix of chess, language and music is a fantastic combination for the right person if he or she is out there?
If this is not the right place to look we would like to have some clever suggestions?
Altså; I mangler en babysitter, der kan varetage såvel skaklektioner som violin og kagebagning hver søndag? Er det bare mig, eller er tilbuddet om at blive au pair uden løn lige i underkanten af ekstremt nærigt?
Thank you Ronin, we really appreciate your continuing support. We also consider you as a good and close friend for now and in the future. As you know already the journey is very long but we plan to have fun and lots of challenges all the way;-)
