I'll soon issue options for betting on the Super-final. In addition to final winner, players will bet on games their engine wins as White, and an extra payout for bets placed on games won as Black! Please wait 1 or 2 days for betting instructions for the Super-final. Coming soon!happy.png

Instructions for Betting on the Super-Final:

Any player (who didn't lose all their biscuits) can bet on the Super Final Tournament.

Provisional betting is allowed. So bets can be placed before the Top-2 engines are known.  If provisional betting only "All in" bets are allowed. So saying "Houdini wins" will be taken as "all biscuits bet on Houdini". If Houdini is not in the Top-2, the bet is void.

Betting on the Super-final costs one biscuit (any size bet). This is not part of the bet. It's the "fee" (fees required because Odds have been set which do not favor the house).

Important: Players should name the winning engine, and the number of games won as White (from 20 game tournament).

Additional Bet: You can also place a bet that your engine will win at least one game as Black. (Extra bet costs one biscuit). If your engine wins at least one game as "Black", your winnings are doubled!

Payoffs:
Pays 2-1 for correct winner only.
Pays 3-1 for correct winner and "wins as White" is exactly correct.

Additional Win as Black bet:
Pays 4-1 for correct winner, and engine wins at least one game as Black.
Pays 6-1 for correct winner, wins as White is exactly correct, and engine wins at least one game as Black.

(wins as White and wins as Black are based on 20 game tournament. If extra games are played to break a tie, these games are not included in the count).

Reply if any questions, or if anyone wants to place provisional bets now.

Or wait till November 15 when the Top 2 engines are known, then place your bets.

The Super-final game is November 16.

raisingsun, your bet has been placed. Can you also bet how many games Stockfish will win as White? Payoff is higher if your bet wins. (20 games are scheduled for the Super-Final tournament).happy.png

You only bet 8 biscuits so far. Do you want to add your last 2 biscuits to either of your bets?

I did add your bet on Stockfish as being the Super-Final winner (4 wins as White, and 3 wins as Black).happy.png

Fire is #5 on this list http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/4040/ . I can't find it included on other lists. So at 45-1 I figure go for the big payoff. I am glad that Chess.com has included the engines they have. It had to be difficult to pick the bottom half of the list.

1. Stockfish
2. Komodo
3. Houdini
4. Shredder
5. Fire
6. Fizbo
7. Andscacs
8. Chiron
9. Gull
10. Booot

This list is the most complete I've found.

Thanks for posting the information. I was wondering why Stockfish is not in the list. Apparently the first engine listed, SugaR, is derived from Stockfish.

I believe the code for SF is open-source, so there's many attempts to tweak it and produce versions that are slightly better. But it's been studied so much, big improvements aren't being found easily.

Yes. It seems every list I look at is missing at least one engine. Stockfish is 1st or 2nd on every list it's on.

Fire recently released a new version. Fire 6.1!

RMChess1954

I downloaded the new version of Fire 6 and put it in a match against Komodo 9. See the results by clicking the link below.

On my Arena Komodo 9 - Fire 6.1 = 1.5 - 0.5

It will be interesting to see what happens on the Chess.com computers.

mcris

Especially when Komodo will be version 11.
