I am bipolar as well @2decadeplayer... Chess doesnt make us different: we play chess because we are already weird people (not all, but some people). Just like formula 1 pilots seem to be aggressive and reckless... I work as a medic, and surgeons seem to be like our formula 1 pilots and medical geeks seem to be chess players... Our medical supervisors and doctors who work as hospital chief are very strict and dont like jokes like most businessmen who are sometimes cold hearted..... So, thats my answer

The guys at my local chess club are pretty normal actually. The only difference between a random sample of the population is that they're mostly male.
*Online* chess players now, are a "special" bunch. I'd say for every one person willing to discuss an interesting position (post-game), there's at least 20 that want to do trash talk, or ragequit without resigning, or other immature behaviours.
okay, i think some of us need to put the coffee and energy drinks down and take a breath! to answer your question are all chess players weird the answer is definitely yes! so are all checkers, poker and scrabble players! my point is we are all different ; embrace it and ease up on the morphine!
