Have you ever seen on tv or an old movie when a player moves and says "check", then his opponent moves a piece and says "checkmate"? I have played tens of thousands of chess games in my life, and this actually happened to me once. I was playing a game sometime in the 80s, and lost the game this way. I wish I had written the moves down, but it was just a quick game during lunch at work. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Obviously I must have checked my opponent, and he interposed a piece which checked my unable-to-move king. I guess I will try to set up some positions and see if I can recreate this checkmate. Thanks.
