Do players need to bring boards/pieces/clocks?
Looking for Chess Players in Arizona
I thought you might want to know, if you don't already know, that there is a chess group that meets on Friday nights at the Corner Bakery on 88th ave. and Bell Rd., which is not too far from where you plan to hold your blitz tournaments. If nothing else, this may be another venue for you to find a good chess game if you are interested. But perhaps there could also be some cooperation between the two groups as they are servicing roughly the same area of town. At its peak, the group at the Corner Bakery was getting 12-20 players to show up every Friday and they were running tournaments on Saturdays. The expert-rated player who started the club has been sick, and participation has subsequently gone down a bit over the last couple of months, but they have an ample supply of tournament sets and at least one USCF TD who is still affiliated with the club. If you are interested, I can put you in contact with some members of the club, most of whom also play on chess.com.

The cash prizes will be determined based on turn out each Monday night, starting Jan 14. It could be $100 or more. In the playoffs it will be more, and other prizes.

Can you win money every night? if so how much? Also what are the ratings of the group of players? Thanks

The cash prizes will be determined based on turn out each Monday night, starting Jan 14. It could be $100 or more. In the playoffs it will be more, and other prizes. The chess will be open - WE will work on holding a top tier tournament for the top players if needed and wanted.

It's not just about people winning money. It's about people being rewarded for something they love doing. In our hi-tech world, how do we introduce chess to new players? Can chess be looked at in a non pure way? Come play, enjoy oneself and be rewarded!
