Can you tell me where every player in the history of chess is rated first so I have a basis for my answer.

sorry, but that is similar to listing the name of everyone in let's say asia

Exactly, so these threads are ridiculous?

Perhaps the answer is that guy in prison who built a crazy rating by playing a closed population.

Irontiger

RJ Fischer

Probably correct.

Fischer.

Fischer, he would get [watch your language - mod] easily by any of the top 10. Nakamura even said he could beat fischer. When you put fischer's games through an engine you can see how inaccurate he is compared to Carlsen.

Is it possible he didn't mean overrated in regards to their ratings? But rather overrated the way sex with hot women is overrated.

Also Josh Waitzken but that was most likely brought on by his dad writing that book (that the movie Searching for Bobby Fischer was made from) & having it snowball into unrealistic expectations.

I won't speculate on ever, but currently I would say Aronian.  He lacks the killer instinct to be anything higher than #2.

People said the same thing about Anand when Kasparov was still around.

...and he'd still have been #2 if Kasparov had not lost focus in chess and stopped playing ;).

Aronian is in the Timman/Short also-ran category; I won't even give him credit for Korchnoi/Keres territory.

Not to offend anyone, but it is really difficult to give a sensible answer without over-rating one's judgements.
