When they dont resign you just make five queens and mate with a king move

...........efficient play with mating material is best .....by going OTT with multitudinous pawns graduating to  Queens, Knights Bishops and/or Rooks risks inadvertently stalemating your tardy opponent with careless inappropriate confidence......then you'd be pissed !!!

Maybe if you were a no-brained noob you would do that....

OMG!   WHY???

cause he wasnt resigning. Thats what this thread is all about.

I'm glad you have the extra 20 min to waste when he see's that you are going to promote every damn pawn and lets his clock run out instead of resigning.  Have it your way. lol

lol bruh it was like two more minutes. I wouldnt waste 20 minutes

So your opponent wasn't going to be "a bad sport" and make you whine for your game

Yes it is frustrating when they don't resign, BUT you know you can't always resign, because then chess.com can have your account restricted

If the person wants to play a position out to see how it goes, that is their choice; and that is fine. If they just sit there with the clock ticking because they are mad, then that is out of line, and poor sportsmanship. I often will resign because I can see I've been beat, but sometimes I play it out  because I want to see the ending mechanics of the position .

SuperPatatochesslove

I think it is okay if they don't resign in fact it is good if they continue because they can use the experience in the future to help them become better chess players plus many chess masters sacrifice there pieces and create an unpredictable checkmate so even if you take their queen and both rooks you should still keep your guard up because you never know what could happen since chess is a game of strategy and we also play it 'cause it is fun. grin.png

It's not fun when you lose....ask Giri

LOL!

I recently lost on time a 5 minute game where I was a queen ahead. I can't fault my opponent for playing on. I am a little bit annoyed because he sent me "loooooser, Looooser!" messages. I thot that a bit rude and discourteous.

I once played out to the bitter end of a lost game against a very arrogant and narcissistic player who thought he was SO good that I should bow and kow tow when he won material and spare him the boredom of actually having to checkmate me. I took all my time on the clock and was amused to see his irritation. He took out a paperback novel and read it during the long remainder of the game. I think if I had ever had to play him in a tournament again I would have made one move and then gone  home. What a numnull!

I must admit that I am one of those people who play on in a lost position.

marktwain938

Well over the last few days, I've played a few games where somebody should have resigned and didn't and ended up winning. I think I shall never resign unless it's a one-move mate that's obvious. I was down a queen in one game and won when the guy blundered his queen.

Another guy refused to resign down five pawns and a bishop, so I queened all five pawns...it was really fun actually (I learned that from the guy above in this thread). I know the guy was hoping for a stalemate, which I've done stupidly plenty of times....but not recently. I really try and watch that at the end.

By the way, please help me with this...is a Glicko rating of 21 any good? Thanks in advance.

Gooooooooooooood for you! That's happened to me too, on both sides of the board. we are playing for fun here, and to get better maybe.
