It might be. I often just play 1 minute games, and I get someone to respond pretty quickly (twenty seconds at the most).
But when the game may take half an hour, what's a couple minutes waiting for an opponent?

I dont know if I am doing something wrong, but when I log in it takes a while for someone to respond to playing a game. Sometimes there are more than 3000 players online. My time is always set at 15/10, maybe that is an issue. If so, someone should at least mention it or something.
